The only reason I refrained was because that would have meant sacrificing my beloved 1970s Quad valve amp and tuner.

In the world according to Blanchflower, the QE was too little, too late (and there is a lot more to come, he predicted with a note of glee in his voice), so what if inflation goes through the ceiling, savers can eat cake and debt doesn't matter that much, etc. etc.
