It's been five years since Oblivion hit the PC and I must say on my rig it looks pretty awesome. From chocolate box towns and villages to unbelievably detailed buildings and astonishing view distances. Looking at a sunset in the hills is astonishing.

Skyrim is out in a fortnight and promises to be even better in all aspects. It promises to look better than this from Oblivion:

Really? Is it worth a 2.3 Gig download or will I be bored in 5 mins?

Its free, the early tanks are a bit dull, but as you start to appreciate the subtleties it gets pretty addictive.

I'm just on my way to hurl high explosives across a field at a russian tank or 10 now... somehow it never seems to get old!
