Average Earnings For First Time Buyers

Recommended Posts

Reality check for younger workers

Article ends with a nice quote

"According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the average salary of a worker in the 21 to 35 age group is currently £20,099"

Gross, I presume? That that leaves just over £15K net, average property is well over x10 average salary for this group then, either everybody is going to get a very big pay rise or something will come cascading down.

"ING said that they expected to be able to afford luxury cars in their forties", blah, I ain't waiting that long ;)

I would say that is the true average salary of all age groups, and the reason for the mass MEWing among the older generation with large house equity, to purchase all the luxuries they normally could not afford.

The problem is they will realise it`s not free money and must be paid back leading to a frugal retirement when that day comes.

This average which means it will be skewed by a few people with very high wages.

The average salary of someone in their 40s is k25? That seems very low.

No, that's their future average salary when they're in the their 40's in today's money :)

They may be actually earning £40k but that will only be like £25k today.
