So im guessing it goes something like this. Spiv builds up debt empire, bank no longer keeps pushing more debt on spiv, transpires spiv cant run a piss up in a brewery without ever increasing amounts of free money, wifey decides without money hubby is just a boring old fart. Said boring old fart shows wifey who's boss.

RIP.

Nonetheless, from the article...

The couple ran a country cottage holiday letting business called Devonshire Cottage Holidays under the company names of Leeman UK Ltd and Leeman Holdings UK Ltd.

"the £500,000 Grade II listed farmhouse on the North Devon "

CHECK! Well done you get 100% score David Wilkes.

I suggest all journalists develop a standard operating procedure. 1. Check rightmove for similar properties in area and slap a similar value on to it. OR if there's nothing to do 2. Visit the estate agent for a valuation.

Nice flippant and entirely speculative take on what is a tragedy for the children involved.

Real classy.

I never cease to be amazed at the petty, small-minded and spiteful posts that are allowed on these boards.

You are a truly miserable human being my friend, first you quote from a disgusting rag like the Mail (which speaks volumes of your intelligence btw ) and then you sum up what is an absolute tragedy with a bizarre and cynical synopsis based on your extremely jaded view of the world.

I would go further, but the fact that you even think like this let alone post it on a public forum, clearly illustrates that your sub-normal intellect is only matched by your ignorance, I would be wasting my breath.

I truly shudder when I think about the kind of people we have in this society.

I think the OP had a fair view given the economic backgrpound - the true cost of a socialist build up of unsustainable lifestyle fanatasies - but at the same time there ARE inncoent victims and OP should not have worded the opinion, despite having a point, so savagely, IMHO

I’m concerned about the number of topics that seem to be now banned in ‘polite’ company; it really is a slippery slope.

Yes it's a sad day when you can't poke fun at a situation that has seen 4 children experience their mother being gunned down by their father.

I mean-whatever next!

Of course it's a sad outcome for that family - but who is to blame? Nobody else but themselves. To try and demonise the OP for a reading between the lines post, you should maybe direct your anger at the bloke - and yes, perhaps also the woman, for "wanting it all" and risking their family to do so. Of course everybody is going to "want it all", but this should be a lesson for the risks involved when you gamble with huge debt.

It probably never even entered the families mind the consequences of failure.

This story should be broadcast far and wide about the dangers of speculation, and the consequences of failure.

Unfortunately, the story as written doesn't have such morals attached.

Your response is without any knowledge of the situation atall and totally unwarranted. Guessing over this sort of thing is beneath tasteless. It is a tragedy if nothing else. What makes you think it is aceptable to assume so much over someone else's private lives? Poor kids!

Of course it's a tragedy.

One thing I've seen from the victo=ims of tragedies is that invariably they want theworld to learn about what went on so that such tragedies can be avoided by others in the future.

hence why it is useful to pick such stories apart - and yes, perhaps speculate on the decisions made, the errors and risks that were taken.

What is the lesson here?

You ought to aim some of that anger at the original article.

Have you read it?

The website includes a photograph of a girl, believed to be their youngest child Isabella, cuddling a dog alongside the words: ‘Our family loves life on the farm – we bet your kids will enjoy it too.

If that isn't taking the p*ss then I don't know what is.

Apparently this

The woman, named locally as 44-year-old Jennie Leeman, fled from the £500,000 Grade II listed farmhouse on the North Devon coast

They are the facts we apparently need to know.

Thought in fairness the police have only begun investigating so probably not a lot more they can say for now. Apart from the value of the house.

Seriously, wtf. Why do we need to know the value of a property in a brutal murder?

We are living through difficult times and sadly this is one of the ways in which frightened people react
