MongerOfDoom
sweet jesus that truly is a monstrosity how on earth did that get planning consent? +1 I guess the only way someone will buy it would be if it's cheap enough to tear down and build something decent in its place .... Lepista
'The road has never taken a £1 million house. If I had built a smaller £800,000 property, I'd be a lot happier,' says Colin. Looks like he's being optomistic if he thinks that he's built an £800k house.
Riedquat
Looks like one of those houses in cartoons where everyone on a street has totally different ones squeezed together, each one reflecting the character (the haunted house with Frankenstein in it next to the sailor in his boat-shaped one, next to the pseudo-aristocrat in this thing). bomberbrown
According to the article, the auction for this monstrosity is currently underway 2pm today. I wonder if there's an online auction page?

Kurt Barlow
Tasteful... The guy must on on acid. NiceLilEarner
I love the way the whole thing looks like it is teetering over the driveway pit, about to fall sideways into the hole. Georgian has to be the most abused of our historic architectural styles. If you are going to do pastiche, at least look at some original examples to see how it should be done; there are plenty still around. R K
Own up, who wrote this spot-on gem: He is NOT a developer. He is just some hubristic greedy idiot who thought he could make money for nothing, by building a completely inappropriate house on a plot that simply wouldn't take it, and probably making the neighbours' lives a misery at the same time. And now he's one here, bleating and hoping some even greater fool will bail him out My money is on the estate agent. whitevanman
The Mail article says he once ran a business employing 35 people with a turnover of £1m. I make that a turnover of £28k per employee. Not exactly Google is it?

KingBingo
At the moment there is another offer, reduced at the last minute to £830,000, which Colin has rejected. He will regret that when the bank takes this monstrosity off him AND his main home to sell them both at auction for about the same.
_w_
He will regret that when the bank takes this monstrosity off him AND his main home to sell them both at auction for about the same. Assuming he didn't make up this offer in the first place. I very seriously doubt it. Anyone living in this would have to feel like a fool, and I suspect all the houses in that street will be discounted because of it too. But any article, in any paper, where Squibbley's out there making a prat of himself, is fair game in my book..

Little Professor
Offers in Excess of £795,000 AVAILABLE FOR QUICK SALE ONLY http://www.rightmove...y-19039623.html Good spot! The house looks ridiculously out of place, a garish concotion shoe-horned in between the two pleasant houses either side. And that driveway looks downright dangerous, surely that's got to be unusuable? You'd get the undercarriage caught on the edge.
Little Professor
Bought for £410k in 2008, was expecting to sell for more than triple that at £1.3million. Talk about deluded. If he is that desperate to get rid of it, why not lower the price to a sensible level? He'll still come out ahead if he drops the price another £200k
Jason
I was expecting the front drive to be an acre in size, but no.. Too far out of place for the location.
