Osborne, Coke And Hookers

Recommended Posts

Feel free to shoot this down in flames but I thought I would share it with you.

“I mean it’s been said in the newspapers that he was at university. He wasn’t. At the time he was working for William Hague. I remember that vividly because he called William Hague insipid and I didn’t know what the word meant. I do now. So he definitely was in government by then but I think he was getting more and more of a high profile. So there was definitely, there was cocaine on that night on the table. George Osborne did take cocaine on that night. And not just on that night. He took it on a regular basis with me, with his friends. There were more witnesses, not just me, that witnessed George Osborne taking cocaine. So it’s you know, there are other people out there that know the truth. On that particular night he had taken a line. And I said to George jokingly that when you’re prime minister one day I’ll have all the dirty goods on you. And he laughed and took a big fat line of cocaine.”

I doubt it's coincidental that this story has re-emerged and planted in the right wing media on the same day Osborne endorses Vickers in the House.

They're reminding who's in charge (and I don't mean the black dominatrix)

I would rather someone who had taken drugs preaching to others about the dangers of it than someone who had never even once tried it. Who cares. We all do shit when we are younger. The more the better when it comes to working out how things work once you get older.

This is not aimed particularly at Osborne - just the ridiculous idea that all our politicians should be squeaky clean. Let them do their dodgy shit when they are younger - then try and do good once a little older and in positions of power.

Today it appears most do quite the opposite. That's why most of the country cannot stand them. Not because they once did gear. Most people could not give a flying ******.

She went to the press with this story in 2005. Would have resurfaced before the election if there was any substance. (abuse?)

Yes but one of the reasons the story may have died so tamely then was the way one Andy Coulson played it at as editor of the NOTW. The media are implying that this soft peddling of the coverage of a potentially career ending allegation (Cocaine is a Class A drug and possession is a criminal offence that carries a tariff of upto 7 years in prison) may not be unconnected to Coulsons subsequent appointment as Number 10 Press Officer. It is no secret that Osborne lobbied Cameron strongly for Coulson to be given the job, overriding the objections that were raised by many of the Prime Ministers other advisers

BTW It is interesting to note that the Conservative press appear to be running with this story just as enthusiastically as the Guardian and other left leaning media.
