interestrateripoff
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-14857846 Emerging markets helped boost Scotch whisky exports by 22% in the first half of this year, according to new figures. The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) said global shipments between January and June reached £1.8bn, up from £1.47bn achieved during the same period in 2010. The USA remained the top export market by value with shipments hitting £268m, an increase of about 14%. The SWA also said growth in Asia and South America was "very strong". Exports to Central and South America reached £214.4m in the first six months of the year - a 49% jump on the same period in 2010 - while shipments to Asia increased by 33% to £422.5m. Finally we have one positive result in our export led recovery.

koala_bear
http://www.bbc.co.uk...siness-14857846 Finally we have one positive result in our export led recovery. This is due to several new distilleries coming on line that produce more with far fewer workers than the ones that they replaced (and have closed). Export led recovery that is worse than a Jobless recovery...

porca misèria
Well, the Jocks have a world-leading product. More specifically, the good folks of Islay lead the world. Does it count as an export when a sassenach like me indulges in a tipple?

Terribad
I assume this is a textbook (and rare) example of debasing the pound actually working, due to most of the inputs being domestic rather than imported - with the rising costs that would entail. Trampa501
At long last we can beat the dram for a great British export! (Although if Mr Salmond gets his way, it will soon no longer be British).
