Torchwood

Recommended Posts

I know this is a little off topic, but did anyone see Torchwood last night?

I was mildly amused to see a huge financial crisis, with Spain, Italy and Ireland mentioned as bringing down the Euro, shares plummeting and the only safe haven left being to "put your money into gold".

But then I am easily amused - after all, I watch Torchwood.

Have noticed this theme.

....then the talk of 3 rich families, one in Finance, one in Politics and one in (Can't remember), who were essentially running the world thru the backdoor.

Very illuminati :D I like it

The third family was "media".

TBH, Russel T Davis's Nazi fixation is getting rather tedious. Last night we had Herr Flick knocking down doors looking for the madonna with the big boobies category 1 people.

But I suppose it's an improvement on RTD's other tropism - gay sex. Frankly last week's ep was pure porn, sadly porn only gay man could enjoy.

It was the Harry Boscow (spelling ?) reference that most interested me. I mean the BBC are par excellence at Harry-Boscowing news stories.

However, I've Googled the name, and apparently all he did was write the history of Warrington.

Anyone know anything else ?

I think Rusell T. Davis is "one of us".

Look at a very early Doctor Who he did, "The Long Game" (2005).

In it, the Doctor discovers that the earth is being secretly run by a consortium of bankers. A satellite news organization feeds disinformation to keep the (chipped) public docile and unquestioning.

The Editor: Create a climate of fear and it's easy to keep the borders closed. It's just a matter of emphasis. The right word in the right broadcast repeated often enough can destabilize an economy, invent an enemy, change a vote.

Cathica: Doctor, I think if there was any sort of conspiracy, Satellite Five would have seen it. We see everything.

The Doctor: I can see better. This society's the wrong shape.

Suki: This whole system is corrupt.

The Editor: Now there's an interesting point. Is a slave a slave if he doesn't know he's enslaved?

No it was Barrowman porn, which sadly is porn only Barrowman enjoys.

I found myself getting drawn into last nights though, and "The Blessing." But that Welsh couple are tedious and Herr Flick laughable (was he played by an Englishman?).
