Nice/reasonable Areas To Rent In Oxford?

Recommended Posts

Daughter and b/f looking to rent in Oxford soon.

Daughter will be working in Cowley, OX4, so pref. reasonable access to there.

They don't know the city at all and have limited time to find somewhere. Not looking for anywhere particularly smart or trendy, but pleasant area would be a bonus. Any recommendation or 'don't go there' gratefully received.

Define "reasonable". I think it's a matter of how much you're willing to pay.

I understand that the Blackbird Leys estate is a no go (but have never seen it myself).

Aren't Oxford prices the most mental outside of London?

Wouldn't be surprised, but they need to live there. Only one of them will be earning, other doing MSc one week a month in some far-flung part of Wales and they don't want to be spending savings on running two cars. So reasonably close to Oxford work essential.

But thanks, folks.

Mrs Bear, you should read the "Regional House Prices", "Oxford" thread re areas and try posting your query there. You might get more opinions...
