German Minister Proposes United States Of Europe

Recommended Posts

Article German Labour Minister

Berlin. (EFE) .- The German Minister of Labour, the Christian Democrat Ursula von der Leyen , believes that the crisis of the euro area can only be overcome by developing the continent’s political union with the creation of a United States of Europe . “My goal is the United States of Europe following the example of other federal states such as Switzerland, Germany or U.S.,” said in a statement later today by the weekly Der Spiegel the German Minister.

Real goal? Or unrealistic pipe-dream?

Oh dear, My Grandad said never trust zee Germans.

I want to be German. So far as I can see they offer a far better future to their children, than we do to ours.

Who would have thought it? It's almost as if it was the plan all along... <_<

It is the only game in town if the Euro is to survive.....

Of course if it ever became reality then its Federal Capital would be in Berlin and it would be German Ministers who would control fiscal policy....

Of course the Greeks wont like it...... They won't like it one little bit....

A United States of Europe would leave Germany permanently handing money to the southern europeans, which wouldnt go down too well with their voters.

Also the democratic defecit should be tackled before enlarging EU's powers further.

Either that or the Southern states become German in mentality. Perhaps mass emigration is on the cards?

As the Euro was designed with flaws, it was obvious it was going to fail. Therefore, the agenda was pretty obvious from the outset.

Big government, more fascism, more taxes, more regulation. I hope people see it for what it is (and will be), long before it happens. The whole concept is moving in the wrong direction; authoritarianism is not the answer.

Herr

German equivalent of Mr., 1650s, originally "nobler, superior," from M.H.G. herre, from O.H.G. herro, comparative of her "noble, worthy, exalted," from PIE *kei-, a color adjective, in suffixed form *koi-ro- here meaning "gray, hoary," hence "gray-haired, venerable." Cognate with O.Fris. hera, Du. heer; perhaps in this usage a loan-translation of L. senior. Hence also Herrenvolk "master race," in Nazi ideology, the concept of the German people.

Hiram

- name meaning - "The 'exalted' ONE"

(Omar Sharif Franco-Arabic actor best known for playing Sherif Ali in Lawrence of Arabia )

sharif

1560, shereef, from Arabic sharif "noble, glorious," from sharafa "to be eXalted."

A descendant of Muhammad through his daughter Fatima.

Horse Trials

burly

Sense descended through "stout," and "sturdy" by 15c. to "heavily ' built'." Another theory connects the original word to O.H.G. burlih "lofty, exalted," related to burjan "to raise, lift.

elate (v.)

1570s, literal, "to raise, elevate," probably from L. elatus "uplifted, exalted"

eminence

c.1400, "projection, protuberance;" early 15c., "high or exalted position," from O.Fr. eminence or directly from L. eminentia "prominence, eminence," from eminentem (nom. eminens) "excellent, prominent"

BOHEMIAN Selecta

rhapsody

1540s, "epic poem," from M.Fr. rhapsodie, from L. rhapsodia, from Gk. rhapsoidia "verse composition," from rhapsodios "reciter of epic poems," from rhaptein "to stitch" (see wrap) + oide "song." Meaning "exalted enthusiastic feeling or expression" is from 1630s

rhaptein "to stitch"

Rap - to stitch up "Profanes"

A United States of Europe would need a new capital city , situated nowhere in particular; eg Washington DC, Canberra, etc.

Any suggestions ?

Because of ill-egal 'Trans-Gressions' (since WW2?)

UK = Empire coll-apse

other Allies

States create Armageddon in every war destroying everything in their paths!

(but since WW2 leave countries that have continued to fight them till they get off their soil (never total capitulation which is fascinating)
