FTSE 250 Movers: Savills given leg up by 39% profit surge

Please note, these links have a habbit of disapearing a day or so later.

Savills' share price was looking up after the real estate advisor posted a 39% surge in half year profit and said it remains well positioned for long term growth across its core regions.

Pre-tax profit rose to £20m for the six months ended 30 June 2011 from £14.4m in 2010. Group revenue advanced 10% to £335.8m.

So Savills seem to be doing well and are confident for the future. Why?

It will be their involvement in prime London which is still attracting alot of fleeing foreign wealth. They may well continue quite well going forward, but even London will have a slower patch shortly if the world is all going back to recession together this winter.

All companies are doing well and are confident for the future.

Got you. Seems odd that they have suddenly picked up and reported an increase. Wasn't Londinium always plodding along with sales and increases?

If I were a vindictive type of person, I would suggest they had closed and sold some offices and booked the takings from the sale as revenue and profit.

It would be fairer to say you're up to scratch on modern companies' accounting gimmicks.
