Barn Conversion - How Much?

Recommended Posts

Apologies for the somewhat off-topic question.

Mrs CS has seen a barn she likes that has planning permission to convert to a five bedroom house.

Mr CS suspects this might cost a fortune, not least because the barn is 17th century and so there will undoubtedly be planning constraints.

I know there are several people on this site who know a thing or two about this: can anyone give me a ballpark/wide ranged estimate for what this might cost?

These can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, you need to ask yourself why it hasn't been done yet if it has planning, I would allow £1000/m2 of floor area for standard construction with over and above costs for expensive flooring/oak beams obscure details etc......

Very hard to estimate!!

Would be worth getting quotes for the work prior to purchase.

Also Building Regs could be expensive if it doesn't have these.

Why not try Sarah Beeny?

You might be included in her next scheduled prog!

Cheapest way -

Buy Plot of developing land.

View/choose/buy/import Barn from specialist company in France!

Buy ALL tiles, Bathroom/Kitchen/doors/handles etc in France (half price at least!!)

Polish Builders?
