Maybe after the thieves realised the police where going to get physical and give them a fight for the TV, Trainers etc... it just wasn't worth the effort. Perhaps the ultimate paradox of the feckless generation if it requires effort I can't be bothered. Again it might have been the sight of the Police arresting them after the event that killed it off. As protests (I use the term loosely) go it appears to have died a very quick death, unlike the Arabs/Greeks who are still revolting. But that's because there was no cause as such. Even the lame excuse it was because the Police shot dead someone really doesn't cut it because the gangs are killing each other all the time, why not riot over that, something which supposedly matters. I think in some respects it sums up xfactor generation. Too fickle, no attention span etc... the riot was a fad and perhaps they just got bored and moved on? To say so is to refuse to evaluate what kind of world has been created in the west over the past forty years. What we are witnessing is the consumerism relentlessly inculcated in everyone here and in the US which has been totally absorbed by the vast majority of the population aged under eighty and especially those under sixty who who have been most exposed to an adult life rooted in these values. Money, income and material posessions have taken the space where compassion, respect for the old, feeling of community outside immediate family, concern for the wellbeing of others, spiritual longing and non erotic love should be. The reason for this is that those values are absolutely worthless in the market (or maybe one could say priceless). The people looting those shops are as vigorous an expression of the shallow values of consumerist, materialist living as you could ever hope to find... apart from the bankers and directors getting rich at the expense of the rest of society... an if u dont like it m8 ther iz sumfink rong wiv u! When the state takes the place of family and community, you soon discover that there's no family or community feeling left. As for 'consumerism', there are few things the left hate more than seeing people able to buy whatever they want without having to ask the almighty state for permission. There's a direct correllation between destruction of religious instruction (the morals etc) and brainwashing the population with consumerism by the elites monopoly over the media and the interests of maximising extraction of Billions £$€ thru their Big Business networks/empires Trouble is - Organised religin is just another Money Monster (don't believe the new Global religion they are going to force on you.)
