September Service Sector Growth Slows

September service sector growth slows

LONDON (Reuters) - The service sector expanded at its weakest pace in nine months in September as soaring energy prices pushed up company costs sharply, a report showed on Wednesday.
The figures are unlikely to alter expectations that the Bank of England will hold interest rates at 4.5 percent this week but economists remain divided over whether the central bank will cut borrowing costs again this year.

While growth has slowed, policymakers may worry that soaring energy costs are pushing up the prices when inflation is already running above the BoE's 2.0-percent target as companies try and recoup their higher costs.
