Indicators Of When To Buy

Recommended Posts

There has been much discussion about percentage drops and timings for catching the bottom of the market, but these are merely signposts for other indicators. What are your favourite indicators for the time to buy and why?

3.5 earnings?

-40% from peak?

4/5 years from peak?

200 X 1oz of gold?

mortgage less than rent?

avg. price = some number?

a dead Lois?

Hard to say with certainty and our objective is to move to Holland.

However I must admit one 3 bed semi in the next street has caught my eye, it's lovely and in the event we stick around longer would do us nicely however we have to avoid the negative equity trap so we still have the option of leaving.

It started a year ago at 149, last month it went to 133 and this week it's 125.

It is however still too early to put in that offer of 75k.

But in a few months, maybe.

We might "miss out" if someone else buys it. But there are plenty to choose from so there's no hurry.

What a change from 2004 :)
