Recommended Posts

A link to Adam Curtis's website. The film is on there (BBC -iplayer)

Truly worth a watch. How things have changed.

hell's angels go on holiday

Thanks very much for sharing. There is virtually nothing about hardcore bikers out there. I'm going to really enjoy this when I get the chance to see it. :)

I recently read a book by an undercover agent of the ATF is the US named Jay Dobyns. It's called No Angel and was a really good read. The ATF agent got as far as being a prospect and meeting Sonny Barger before he was pulled. There's some interviews with him on youtube to. It portrays them in a much more serious light that this doc, more like an organised crime outfit.

Thanks I'll get a copy. The best I've got so far DVD-wise is the recent and excellent work of Zach Coffman and Scott Dl lala in California. if you are a 'biker' who rides, aspires to or favours english or v twin iron, rather than a 'bike rider', I'd thoroughly recommend them.

Choppertown- The Sinners

In my opinion these losers have nothing to do with motorcycling. They're just thugs who ride bikes.

I have ridden motorbikes since the age of 4 (Motocross) ride 12,000 miles a year, my bike is my only mode of transport, and feel no need to wear sad little patches, and have club meets. I think I grew out of that at around 9 years old.

But then I've always loathed choppers. Pointless form over function rolling lifestyles.

Totally agree with everything you say except "these losers" as I have not seen the film yet. Wearing anything/doing anything should not pigeon hole people. Once I've seen the film I might agree with you. Depends what they were like as people. I assume you watched it.

Oh and whilst I have no time for overpriced bling idiot choppers, (like those produced by the monkeys at orange county et al), I like the idea of home built pure choppers as they are an individual statement/piece of art rather than mass consumerism bolt on weekend life style.

I also only have a bike/don't wear patches/leathers or have meets. In fact the YMCA village people around here keep the ****** away from me when we meet which is just fine by me. They have no idea how to talk to a biker with no bling, leathers or badges. Wierd and wish I lived in California from this perspective.

This is worth watching, especially in the light of recent events. I remember from growing up in the 70's the news stories surrounding Hells Angels, mostly it was them killing each other - nothing much changes. This sorry bunch appear to have the mental age of around 12 - nothing much changes. Not sure where they fit in with national socialism - I'm not an expert on the subject but had assumed the "movement",however misguided, required a sense of self respect, especially in terms of drugs & alcohol ? Idiots of highest order. I would be amazed if any of these are still alive. Thanks for posting.
