Summer Sales Help Ailing High Street

Recommended Posts

Though things have picked up, there are concerns that this has only been boosted by the summer sales, with many retailers of big ticket items reporting difficult trading, such as Carpetright.

The BRC said total trading in July improved by 2.5pc on a year ago and by one percentage point over the 1.5pc growth seen in June.

BRC director general Stephen Robertson said: "This is a modest improvement on recent months but overall conditions remain very difficult for retailers.

In light of recent events this headline brought a wry smile.

Well most of the stuff being stolen is all electronic crap anyway and I'm pretty sure the warranties are now void. Its when they start stealing food stuff we need to really worry.
