Question Re Bullionvault - Am I Missing Something?

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Bought some of the shiny stuff in Feb, more in March, then another big batch this morning. have been using Bullionvault.

Comparing my paid price per kg to the spot price when I made my purchases, it seems that I have got a crappy deal today, looking at 35k per kilo instead of 33.5k.

Any ideas why? Is it because I am only buying relatively small amounts? Or am I just operating the system badly?

Apologies for the noobie questions...

That's like asking if you got a good deal buying your house in August 2007.

I realise it's not a good deal, I just don't know if I am using the site very well. Any pointers anyone?

i would guess at a far greater demand at the moment from your Feb and March purchases so the markup goes err, up.

Having bought some silver on there, I've notived that the selling price on BV tended to be about £10-12/kg over the spot price which seems a fair deal compared to the premium buying coins. Over the weekend however the lowest selling price of silver was about £50-60/kg over the spot price which suggested that most people holding metals on there thought they were going to rocket up. Even Apmex apparently stopped selling silver over the weekend due to the uncertainty.

Cheers Hexagon, that's very helpful. I think I also bought at a busy time of the day, i.e. just after 9am this morning.
