Homes From Hell

I really don't get the one in Greece. They were originally offered their money back; why didn't they take it? they said they wanted it and were then going to sell it off as quickly as possible....but then bad mouthed the developer on the internet. I have to say that if I were the developer I'd probably be pissed off as well.

I just hope that none of these schmucks borrowed any money to fund their luxury purchases.

Edit to add that the woman with the 'bubbly personality' at the end ought to have got a number of other residents of the street together and complained as a residents' committee rather than going alone to complain about the noisy teenagers.

The guy in Cyprus is a control freak and is ruining his own life..madness. He should have accepted the offer of return of his money. Just because his prized dream was going to be overlooked ....like a child he is stamping his feet...

+1

Every decision he has made about the property is the wrong one. I'm amazed that his wife seemed to 100% support him but as you say, he's a control freak so feel sorry for her too.

Madness that the council investigated it, and yet couldn't proceed until someone stepped forward as the complainant.

I think it was Manchester that introduced professional witnesses to deal with this sort of nastyness.

Feral humans should not be tolerated. Would they all behave if their benefit was reliant on it?

Yes they should have.

Not just a normal survey... but one that would look at the impact of filling in those big puddles behind the house.

A quick heads up!

There's another on in ten minutes (9pm Tuesday August 9th 2011) on ITV1.

Shall be watching. Thanks.

Homes from Hell is the only way of getting any news from Spain these days. Anyone else remember a report from the news channels about Spain? I can't.

Brief mention about Spanish and Italian bonds, but not much more.

Ruddy nimby lot on now, except they call it 'saving the environment'. All there was there was a bunch of bone dry rocks, which just happened to be next to their homes.

yep i saw that

nimbys moving into Spain, outpricing the locals, and then blocking the locals building new houses!

One of the major papers does an English version. As with all publications, it has its bias, but it does try a "broadsheet" approach to the news so you can filter facts.

If you're looking for a Brit expat view on things ie news from the Costas, there are several websites. This one isn't too bad, but obviously because of its audience it will cover just stuff of interest to the Med coast dwellers

The Olive Press

For a completely different slant of expats in Spain, take a look at this magazine site from Barcelona

Metropolitan magazine

Lastly, there are a couple of Spanish language websites that may be more of interest to folk here in terms of relevance to the housing market and economics. The first is their equivalent of HPC, it's called Burbuja

burbuja-inmobiliaria

Then there is Meneame which is a great way of getting informed about current news stories. Click on the "meanear pendientes" tab to see up-and-coming news stories.

It made me laugh when they tried to describe what they had 'saved'; along the lines of 'animals and bushes and things - nice to think they are there'.

Clearly they had never visited this natural wonderland.

one of them a formewr UK civil servant, another a former local government worker, they must have been, in the programme, 60 at max, retired 10 years ago, took their ill gotten UK money and decided to start a political party in a village in spain to stop the local council building houses for the locals

lovely people
