Standard Bank Of Sa

Recommended Posts

Thinking of applying for an IT position with this lot in the London office. Don't know much about them, so thoughts welcome.

On their website I see the following:

http://www.standardbank.co.za/site/investor/investor.html

Their ratings are given as:

Fitch Ratings BBB+, Moody’s A3 and Standard & Poor’s BBBpi.

Does this indicate an accident waiting to happen?

Very cautious bunch. Main thing I know about them is that made a fairly big effort to get into the convertible bond business a few years back and hired some very bright people I once worked with, not sure how it worked out. Those are OK ratings for a bank based in a developing market btw, I wouldn't worry about them blowing up on the basis of that.

They are a very good bunch. Clever, ambitious without being stupid and senior management are a class act.
