Was This The Biggest Bubble In House Prices?

Recommended Posts

Demand was so great in the summer of 1925 that people wanting to stay put were putting ''Not For Sale'' notices outside their houses!.......... :o

Funnily enough there is a fairly large victorian terrace house near to where I live which is run down and looks empty. For the past 3 years it has had a sign in the window which says the very same thing.

I was saying to someone only last night that what staggered me about this property boom was the complete lack of a sense of history. The other day I spoke to various people who told me that property was now just more expensive and I would have to get used to the idea. The idea that property has ever been an asset of volatile value in the uk was just not taken on board.

There's no feeling that circumstances could change, no idea of cycles.
