More Property Buyers Were Losers Than Winners Since 1996!

Recommended Posts

This article is a nonsense as it seems to exclude the leveraged nature of most people's property buying.

Eg I buy a house for 100k with a 10k deposit, 90k mortgage. It goes up 10% but inflation goes up 20%. So i've done badly?

No - my 10k deposit has actually become 20k equity (110k - 90k)! Although house prices went down 10% in real terms my 10k deposit has gone up 80% in real terms.

The article is only really relevant for cash buyers.
