Cut Pay Or Cut Jobs..

In these difficult times, when many private sector workers have seen reduced hours, reduced pay etc., it makes sense for councils who don't want to lose staff but need to cut their expenditure to cut working hours.. people get to keep their jobs.

Southampton street cleaners aren't happy..

Still, the money we save on not paying them for being on strike is a nice bonus..

I know someone involved in this. Apparently the ground/street workers were given a week to decide, they took 24hrs to agree to the cut, they told the management who said they would not accept it and have decided to go on strike

It's hard to believe it is the management who aren't willing to take a cut isn't it! :o

The workers are probably sck of the BoE's inflation outlook and can see for themselves it's a bit more than the 4% being spouted by Merv & Co. You tend to find the public ignore bin strikes until the crap is piled high in front of their door and rats are having a party. Especially if the weather's warm.....:D

Get rid of half the management use the savings to give the road cleaners what they want. You don't get any more frontline then them.

The perfect solution, unfortunately will never happen, not while the greedy, self entitled management pay themselves.

So the frontliners are going to turn up for work, and the managers wont?

Worse than that,

The management have told the workers that they aren't accepting their willingness to work for less and they must strike with the rest of them
