Dave: Prolls Ought Not Have Children Before They Can Afford To

Recommended Posts

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2002195/David-Cameron-Families-children-afford-it.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

David Cameron courted controversy today by talking about families who had children before they could afford to support them.
The Prime Minister said he was determined to 'change values' in Britain so that hard-working families would be rewarded.

This govenment is out of touch not just with the electorate but with any sense of humanity.

If its to expensive for normal "HWF" to have kids its too expenive. Regime change please.

In the third world/poorer countries, the more children you have the better your chances of survival are....those left alone on their own their future prospects for survival are pretty slim.

He's not saying that at all.

He's saying people should not have children and expect others to pay for their entire upkeep through the benefits system because they do not work or have an income themselves.

And I agree with that sentiment, and he is in touch with the wider electorate on this issue.

And can you please tell me where the "humanity" is in the fact I cannot afford to start a family, yet pay thousands upon thousands every year in tax to fund other people who continue to have children when they have no income themselves?

Couldn't agree more. Why should I sponsor someone elses sprog(s).

Can't afford kids, deal with it or improve your situation.

It's not the HWF who are having kids, it's the chavs and benefit claimants who are whilst the HWF are being taxed out of having kids by the need to pay for the former.

Seems a perfectly reasonable idea to me, if you want to have kids then don't expect other people to pay for them.

We could call it social responsibility.

....but, but....people are given all kinds of incentives and benefits to encourage them to have children, we even import people who have children....please explain!

I think he's missing the point. For many it is simply a rational career choice based on the economic decisions presented. The governments only have themselves to blame. People just follow the money. You can't rely on 'values' anymore, if you ever could.

its simply about following the money, for a decade+ the UK has tried to induce child birth due to the skewed popn pyramid( its about the only policy of Labour that has actually represented a long term view), but in the last few years there has been a baby boom via birth/immigration, that has done the job, these late entrants are simply poorly timed investors i think, they have missed the boat, the govt incentive for children has been no less blatant than the asian govt incentive for less children.

In reality its the middle classes self engineeredproblem spending too much time thinking about "careers" rather than life

It is even worse. For teenage girls who left school without qualifications the current policy sounds like: "If you get pregnant we'll give you a house and benefits for life."

If I were a teenager, and in a similar in situation, I would probably fall for it - not knowing that it would vastly reduce my future chances of a stable relationship and a happy life.

Not to mention the children, born in immature households.

A disaster all round.

Rubbish, on this one they're absolutely spot on.

Yes, bang on.

What will he do? Jaw boning won't help. He needs to end the dependency, and the only way to do that is by ending or drastically scaling down child related benefits. The moral blackmail of demanding help for the sake of the children, has to be faced down. If not, more and more will use this avenue as the best choice, having kids to get housing and benefits. These people are behaving rationally, it is a choice they are given.

Time to take that choice away. For the sake of the children as much as anything. Who would want to be a child, brought into the world to unlock benefits for selfish parents?

Read my post again. You missed: Having a child whilst still a teenager, and after leaving schools without qualifications .

The odds are not good there.

And do consider that the "father" is probably in a similar situation, age/qualifications-wise.

It is a perverting system.

All I'm seeing is large numbers of women with bumps in front and or with kids in tow who have a 'just taking care of business attitude'. These women seem to be mainly in their 30's, it's as if it's a career move....nothing much happening on the job front so may as well drop a few, the government will pay. The feeling that they think they're doing a good job is palpable.

as i said before they are a nasdaq investor in realnetworks, they are living in the past, but fundamentally they are a production of govt

A certain class of people regularly have children for the sole purpose of raising their income - if I remember rightly, you have one every 3 years for optimal gain. This is no way for a child to be brought into the world! We'll end up being overridden with the takers of this world if we aren't careful. And what happens when a country full of needy, whinging takers all screaming and bawling for the last few pennies - what happens when the money totally runs out as no-one is bothering to work anymore because it doesn't seem to pay? To be honest, it's would be negligent if this wasn't implemented. And Dave best get on with it too, it's not all well and good to just talk about it, then piss off on a 3 month holiday.

Especially as he's already seen fit to reduce the income of those HWF who have a 40%er in the household.
