You Get All 18 Acres.. Except For This Bit

Recommended Posts

Lovely house.. great grounds.. for those that want to get away from civilisation, what better than having your house in the centre of an 18 acre plot, which is also surrounded by woodland.. idyllic.

House details: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-30486617.html

Except you don't get to get to buy the tiny triangle in blue. That's being retained by the current owners. Their pets are buried there.. and they have access via your drive to it.

that sounds like the plot for the sort of quirky black comedy you just know is going to end up with nearly everybody being dead and someone stealing someone else's identity.

I wonder how much it is going to cost the vendors in potential buyers not touching with bargepole.

In the brochure on the advert.

It says:

"THE LAND

This extends to approximately 18.735 acres (7.582 ha) or thereabouts of permanent pasture which is divided into four separate stock proof paddocks. This includes the land which the buildings are situated on.

Mains water supply to two of these paddocks and one has direct access to Kyre Brook.

A small area of land which is a garden of rest adjacent to the driveway has been retained by the Vendors."

Interested to see I there was an enforceable covenant that prevents a new owner from digging up and disposing of the said pets.

Might reduce the number of visits a bit!

Where does it say it's pets? There's nothing illegal about burying Grandma in the garden, as long as the death has been correctly reported & there's no problem with waterway pollution etc!

Though the websites which talk about this do always say, "For heaven's sake consider what you'll do if you want to move!"

If it is pets, they'll have stopped visiting after a couple of years & you can probably get the covenant rescinded eventually.

They don't have the drive though, better hope they have put in a right of access otherwise they have no way to get to the blue triangle.

True enough.. was just an assumption based on the terminology ("garden of rest") and it being a farm.

Either way, the last thing you want for your country retreat is for people to turn up in your garden with flowers for loved ones.

My guess is that human ashes are scattered in the 'garden of rest'.

I think that I would be installing electric gates at the driveway entrance and fencing off the garden of rest. They could retain it but are only gonna see it from google earth
