Oliver Sutton
....they dont put out burning down houses They tend to save lives though. (I won't descend to your level and use a childish emoticon). A ticket on the windscreen doesnt move cars parked in stupid places. No. But it's a deterrent to parking there in the first place.
rentforlife
Unless someone's house burns down with their kids inside because an illegally parked car has blocked the fire engine. What utter rubbish. Parking tickets are about revenue generation. What happened in towns up and down the country before the explosion in parking enforcement officers? Seriously, dont try and justify what they do. This is amply demonstrated by the number out in force recently. They're everywhere and working to rule for cash-strapped councils. I was nailed by one recently. Despite having a receipt that I had proof I was using the Supermarket at the time and despite only being in the Supermarket for 10 minutes I still had to pay up. Parking Officers use sly, stealth tactics that would make Seal Team 6 proud. And just what sort of specialist training do you need to empty a parking meter? ken_ichikawa
And just what sort of specialist training do you need to empty a parking meter? Parking meters? I've not seen them for a decade at least, they use ticket machines or pay by phone type things instead hooked up to CCTV.

Petrolheads come from the more dull, stupid end of the spectrum. They see themselves as selfless, noble breed,a myth propogated by crappy programs like Top Gear. In reality they are just a bunch of selfish cünts who need to be looked over like the children they are.

Monkey
Its quite funny in southampton at the mo. The bin strikes has made the local paper more than the traffic wardens. People moaning about no bin collections and if you mention the TWs all the do is srugg. It seems that in the whole of soutbampton there are only 40 people who care about the TW strike. And they are on strike.
PopGun
Meanwhile, back in the real world: lefty propaganda link Anarchy rules in town with no traffic wardens: Punch-ups over parking spaces in Aberystwyth Every traffic warden in town has hung up their uniform, torn up their tickets and put away their camera. But what sounds like a driver’s dream come true has turned into a nightmare for the once sedate Welsh coastal town of Aberystwyth. Yesterday residents told of punch-ups over sought-after spaces, businesses unable to find room to take deliveries, and fears that ambulances and fire engines would be caught in the gridlock. So serious is the situation that many are now pleading for someone to resume the practice of slapping tickets on illegally-parked cars and lorries. So much for those self governing/correcting systems.
PopGun
But arent you witnessing the self governing/correcting system in action? Enforcement boils down to the use of force beit motorists fight over a parking space or the state employment the police force to enforce. Its the same thing but with the state less than half the population voted for them. If ambulances were like Monster Trucks, I'd agree.
