I suppose it depends upon the state of the property when it was auctioned.

If it's a repo there's every chance that the place had been completely gutted by the previous owners, I'd guess that you could easily spend £20,000 getting it into a habitable (i.e. mortgageable) state; knock off say £10,000 from the sales price and the £20,000 profit that's left doesn't look that unreasonable.

Amazing indeed :P

hmm, what a ripoff.

Bassett is a nice town with some good pubs (The Five Bells is easily the best and excellent any night of the week, apart from the occasional group of high spirited boors from RAF Lyneham). That house is not too far from the High street where most of the action is. Handy for M4, no railway station however. That said, I'm not sure the house is worth that much as plenty in neighbouring Swindon go for much less, and others in Bassett which have better location for similar money or a better house for less:

better location, same money (probably better house too)

better house:

In short, they'll do well to shift the refurb at the asking price.

Ahh Swindon, home town of Billie Piper & Mark Lamarr. :D

The 1st house in Wootton Bassett - could that be one of the houses featured in Homes Under the Hammer? I'm sure (Royal?) Wootton Bassett has been featured at least twice over the past year.

And Melissa Messenger and Diana Dors.

I put some photos in if you are unaware of who these ladies are.

Regardless, im sure none of them stayed in Swindon for long.
