Gigantic Purple Slug
Watched this as I was eating my breakfast. I had a stong urge to throw the breakfast bowl at the TV set, but ultimately resisted.

Shifty Ifty the public sector amateur property developer has gotten himself into a spot of bother it seems. Even the agents didn't tell him what he wanted with their over valuations. There's a 3 bed semi within quarter of a mile for £70k and he wants £85k for his 2 up 2 down with a loft conversion.
Pent Up
Did it say 'Filmed in 2005' at the end of the credits? It tells you the dates of the auctions and the valuations during the show. They were all recent.

Yes but being HUTH, a positive slant will be put on it. Even a complete idiot that does minimal research can make money, and if he can't he can always rent it out. I love that phrase they use. "Good enough for renting." (If a shit kitchen is installed). Edited May 30, 2011 by Sir John Steed

I thought that it was bold putting a loft conversion in that property given the area doesn't really demand one. Even Martin Roberts was a bit unsure of the financial viability of the loft conversion. Did they state how much it actually cost to do the conversion? Pre renovation, he said that it would cost about £6k. That Sheerness maisonette looked very nice after the renovation but I wouldn't buy/rent a pad that looked over just a back garden.

The loft conversion seemed good to me. Lots of extra space and it looked quite roomy. What seemed a lot more questionable was the whole business case. The place in Sheerness looked good and the guy did a very nice job, but I would say was overdeveloped. For £7K ? Fine if you're using offcuts and stuff from your own business. Not so possible I think if you're doing it all yourself. That shower with the music player looked expensive.
