Hmv Sees Few Signs Of Improvement

Recommended Posts

Music retailer HMV has reported a 4.4% drop in like-for-like group sales, and said there were few signs of an improvement on the UK High Street.

The firm, which also owns Waterstone's, is hoping to buy rival bookstore chain Ottakar's for £96m ($170m).

HMV's latest trading update comes ahead of its annual general meeting and covers the 21 weeks since 1 May

If HMV weren't such a rip off, they'd be making more money. Lots of customers now use play, CDwow and Bang which sell new chart releases sometimes at half the cost.

thing to remember with HMV is its a young shoppers store. most customers are 25 somethings. not generally home buyers.

perhaps the kids have cut back ?

or perhaps its creeping inflation denting the pockets of these 'trend setters'. an inflation so insidious, you dont know its there. all you know is your wages dont meet the months outgoings more frequently. an extra 10p on a drink. 10p on the phone hour. more poll taxes. lots of little increases to everything - except your wages.
