Remember, not only did they pay theyselves £40m from Rover, but when Rover folded they still owned the most profiable parts of the company which they seperated off as soon as they bought it from BMW... including the finance arm and the parts division.

None of these 4 men will ever have to work again.

They aren't BAD businessmen, they are, IMHO, the most sucessful businessmen who ever lived, turning 10p (that's what they paid for Rover, plus about £42k in guarantees (never needed) based on possible future loans against their houses) into probably £80million.

10p to £80m.

Come on, no matter how sick it makes you feel, you have to admit you are impressed.

Seems to me that they have just done what all have been encouraged to do over the past couple of decades. Asset strip everything and sell the remnants to China leaving the taxpayer to pick up the tab.

A clear example of the problems to do with the law granting special privileges to certain people. Limited liability company law (or whatever should cover this) are terrible. Creditors should be able to rinse them dry.

Eh? Robbed? As usual it was handed to them on a silver platter.

Its just the sheeple being dumbass sheeple as usual. Just like they buy into liebour's pseudo socialist bullcrap and wonder where it all went wrong.

Moulton had a credible plan to trim down production and was shunned by a load of trot brummies as he was some big bad venture capitalist. Instead prefering to go with the laughable Phoenix group. That Moulton was right didnt matter to these people, all that mattered was that what was presented to them fitted in with their narrow minded political views.

Beware false prophets. Rover workers got exactly what they asked for and deserved. If left to their own devices, Austin/Rover would have gone bankrupt decades previous.

But you don't really know if Moulton was not going to do something similar. Come on, the way Rover was run is classic City text book. They only ran out of luck when they couldn't complete on a possible sale/investment to China in time. Though that was baffling enough.

They did, that's why they were nationalised.

Why does it sometimes seem like everyone's on a gravy train and I'm just the poor ol platform attendant waving 'em off.

....don't worry, you have your feet firmly on the ground you may well be thankful you did not board the train. ;)
