A study by of 1,000 people with more than £250,000 in savings and investments found 35pc may move abroad because of high tax rates, while 44pc blamed the weather and 43pc want to avoid antisocial behaviour.

Recent changes in tax rules have proved controversial for many Britons, including a combination of the 50pc income tax rate on those earning more than £150,000, increases in national insurance and a reduction in personal allowances.

Almost half of respondents to the Lloyds TSB research think Britons are worse off financially that people in other developed countries, while just 9pc think people in Briton are better off.

Some of the post are very informative, and agree with a few.

Open your eyes and travel the country, its schools, housing estates, immigrant ghettos, prisons, street crime, cities despoiled by ethnic modes of doing business, corruption, political correctness etc. The country is rotten to the core - which makes for Third World status.

Have these people had their eyes shut since 1997? They have left it far too late to leave now; the currency has fallen off a cliff. All of these problems mentioned happened under A Labour government.

Britain has become a cesspool because the voters allowed Brown and Blair to rule for 3 terms. The British still couldn't elect a proper government even after 3 terms of Labour's treason. The British are getting what they asked for.

In order to survive Britain will need to pull out of the EU. That will allow the Human Rights act to be revoked. Then the country can start protecting its borders and send the illegals back home. It won't happen.

Well I live abroad and if they are moving for better taxation they will be in for a bit of a surprise...I just clear half my earnings after tax and NI.....I net 42% of any pay increase or bonus....after tax and NI. I've lived in Germany and Belgium and if people think the grass is greener tax wise they are wrong. As one of these nasty immigrants, do I get to post on this thread ?

While an economically ruined England lurching closer towards National Socialism is unnerving when I've got a toddler aged Pakistani niece, the mass immigration from EE was highly retarded, with cheap wage serfs coming helping not really helping the already fundamentally flawed English economy and not helping the economy of their homeland, so no wonder there's a huge backlash against immigration, with accusations of wearing jackbooks and fieldgrau when raising concerns about immigration makes people even more enraged. And what about importing doctors and nurses from less developed African and Southern Asian countries where their talents are more needed?

Quite. There is no way to deal with uncontrolled immigration without leaving the EU. That is the first step.

The weather here in the north-east has been dire by any standards for about the past five years now. Cold, wet, overcast and with barely any sunlight except for this recent spell. Even then, the winds this week have been biting. None of this would be as bad if, every time we did get a genuinely nice day, we weren't constantly made to feel guilty for somehow having "caused" it with our reckless, planet destroying behaviour.

Forget about muppets like that Nigeria clown.Go outside major cities and it's still 85%+ white people.When the economy completely collapses the big cities will become hellholes , most of the Africans , Asians will die in those cities as will a lot of chavs etc.Country folk will rebuild britain from the ground up , big cities have no future , immigrants living on benefits in big cities have no future.Only self sufficient country/village folk have a future.

Alternative view : If the economy miraculously avoids collapse wouldn't the darker skinned immigrants eventually get white skin within a half dozen generations anyway due to the cold climate/staying indoors so much? Dark skinned people cannot absorb enough vitamin D in cold climates.

One of the main reasons i;m dumping 1/3 of my earnings into gold and silver is because theres nothing much i want anymore.

I wouldn't classify myself as a left wing environmentalist but the amount of consumer junk (mostly China garbage) that gets thrown out , even when it's still working half the time , is a disgrace.

Low , but if the person has low outlays and doesn't want to jump on the consumerism train they can just do a part time job instead of full time.They have more choice compared to someone with a 10,000 credit card debt.

You ever see a programme on CH4 ages ago, where they asked what it was to be British? There was quite a famous person who said that several born in the UK footballers who happened to be black could never be truely British. It took a lot of arm twisting to change his opinion.

Although you may well share the beliefs and ideals and consider yourself British, a lot of people still consider you not to be British due to the difference in melonin.

Land is always a big white elephant.... the problem with land as an asset class although you cannot make more of it and you can grow food on some of it is that it is VERY hard to defend SHTF time, either from government seizure as happened in 1949 China. Personally speaking, we have sold our flat in the UK, retained our flat in France and hope to despatch as much money over there as possible when the exchange rates look up. This country is no place for people with aspirations under 35 who did not buy a place to live before 2002. House prices aren't falling fast enough and there is no incentive to work hard when the chance of buying anything decent remains entirely out of our grasp. Young people don't realise how much they are being sacrified. When will they wake up?

In any case, we shall be waving goodbye next year.

Also i doubt it would be hard to defend rural land because transport further than 10mile would be impossible due to no trains,buses,petrol stations operating.People would have wasted all their petrol queuing in gridlocked traffic trying to get out of the big cities.

My 7 year old son wrote about his recent piano competition in his school journal. In it he wrote "There was lots of children there and I was the only white kid." His teacher (who is also white) crossed out that sentance... A little kid being unable to state an accurate observation is an indication of how messed up the Western nations have become. This must be payback for our forefathers having exploited the non-whites centuries ago.

It's not just the wealthy and rich who are going, and have gone since 2000.

Most of my peers have gone in the last decade, and they were either below-average or average earners. I've known a number of unemployed Brits in their twenties go to Germany, South East Asia, America (dual citizenship), Canada, and even the Middle East to get work and earn an income. Now it's got to the point where we are considering going, and we are average earners.

The problem is our economy, public spending and taxation levels have become so out of kilter that you start to wonder exactly why you are living here.

My husband and I pay thousands upon thousands in tax every year -- I totted it all up and was astonished, I basically go out to work to earn the money back we pay in tax -- yet we cannot afford the most basic of houses in our area, and can barely afford to start a family.

I wouldn't mind so much if public services were top notch, but the NHS in our area is dreadful, and the state schools are appalling (GCSE rates are below 40 percent on the five including English and Maths measure). We just seem to be paying astonishing levels of tax to keep the political and governmental elites in large houses, foreign holidays and paid-for junkets, and to tide over the structural mess that has been made of the country so it doesn't explode into riots.

And while this has angered me in the last ten years, I have now moved into a different phase where I regard being in Britain as something I do for the moment while I still work here. I now "live" when I go abroad (and I travel a far bit): that's where I eat out, where I buy my clothes, where I go to bars, and where I shop. If I had the means, I would just go and not come back.
