It was such a throw away comment I couldn't quite believe it. On newsnight? He really is a very odd bloke. There is no way he will last more than a term if he even gets that far. As for the bubble comment....what on earth? How long before someone pulls him up on this and asks him a direct question about it? Does he think the slight decrease we've seen since 04 in a few places is enough to deflate the bubble? Perhaps he is trying to take ownership of the b-word, so that it is harder to use it against him as a weapon. If he can "normalise" its use, maybe even change the public perception about what it means exactly, he can defuse a thousand headlines before they even get printed.
