Still cheaper to purchase a bar of chocolate instead of a chocolate product that often weighs less and costs more becuase its in a funny shape. :D

The farticle has a suggestion that customers buy a bar and purchase a molding machine to turn the boring slab into a delightful egg shape. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Make your own
Another option is to make your own Easter eggs. This doesn't have to be difficult and can work out to be far cheaper! What's more, if you have kids it can be a lot of fun! Take a look at a great recipe here.
You can pick up Easter egg moulds from Lakeland for just £3.99 — these are reusable so it's a good investment! There's even a video on the site telling you how to use them!

Join a religon that doesn't celebrate Easter?

390,127* Jedi knights can't be wrong!

*2001 Census

...people that don't celebrate easter still buy easter eggs, even the jedi.......one chocolate egg is plenty enough for anyone...mine had great pleasure in breaking it up into little pieces, then I had the great pleasure of trying to scrape the mess it out of the carpet.....that is what happens when you are given too much of a good thing. ;)

After Easter (and Xmas) I look at the marked down products and, usually, it is still cheaper to go and buy the same product in the normal shape

You're not paying attention. Buy at the promotional prices all over the place (which are the 2010 prices you're comparing against) - the things are cheaper than a normal bar of chocolate (by weight).

I am not seeing this tbh. The local shops here all have the eggs on offer at half price. I took daughter to the shops and said that she could choose some sweets and ended up buying her a dairy cream egg because it worked out cheaper for the egg and 3 bars included than buying a single bar (£/g).
