Eurozone changeover to decimalised time a 'disaster', warns economy minister. Leading economist warns of danger of imposing higher administrative costs involved in any changeover before recovery is entrenched

Cadaqués in Catalonia: the Catalonian economy minister has warned of dire consequences for the EU if decimalisation of the 24 hours clock is allowed to proceed.
A planned change in the way we measure time from the long standing 24 hour clock to a decimalised version consisting of a 10 hour day broken down into 100 minute blocks was authorised by the EU trade secretary in 2008 after limited debate.
The impact of the changeover would add to a series of shocks that have knocked a hole in the EU's economy and restricted its ability to recover from the financial crisis, Sarkozy said.

What a waste! How do they think this is going to work with the rest of the world?

Well, until I saw the 1st of April date flash by as I opened the topic, I actually didn't put it past the EU to come up with this crazy idea at all!

It's a sad sign of the times when you're relieved that it's just a Aprils fools joke instead of as usual, real policy made by a real life fool in charge.

EDIT: it just occurred to me that you could probably 'buy' just such a April fool from an EU MP directly: http://www.alter-eu.org/fr/press-releases/2011/03/27/transparency-and-ethics-reforms-must-include-full-disclosure-and :ph34r:
