Nas Drive Recommendations

Hi all

I need a new external backup drive, and figured I might as well get a NAS one.

The prime things I need are 2tb storage (across 2 x 1tb drives) RAID and the most important things are BUILD QUALITY and RELIABILITY

Anyone have any recommendations?

I have 2 Netgear ReadyNas NV+ running (one on my business lan and one at home) and they have been fantastic.

Very reliable and easy to use and the build quality is excellent. I was expecting it to be slightly plastic and flimsy but pleasantly surprised.

Of course, if you're mirroring drives you will only get 1Tb from 2 * 1Tb drives.

I've also got a ReadyNAS Duo, it's been great so far.

The only gripe I have is that setting permissions for the share can be a bit confusing as the documentation is a bit sparse for that.

They have some X-RAID technology which allows you to put in bigger capacity drives and it will work all seamlessly.

Also has a usb port and you can hook up your UPS to it so it will shutdown safely etc..
