GordonBrownSpentMyFuture
Can anybody honestly say they can't imagine Brown giving this exact speech? The puppets change, the masters do not.
Brave New World
LMAO........!! And you guys all thought things would come crashing down as soon as SMI stopped this year... now it has been extended another WHOLE YEAR.....!! I'm as much a bear as anybody, but very cynical/despondent now. I don't see it happening. Prices are still coming down even with it, the UK PLC, Things can only get better, caccy nappy version of Gordon Gecko Mr Brown sheen has been well and truely removed from the conscious minds of the sheeple - it is not celebrity fuelled consumption and houses always go up filling their every thought it is fear, fear of losing your job, fear of food costing more, fear of petrol costing too much......... Once a deep seated mindset is born over 3 -4 years (as it was on the way up) of bad news and everyday things getting more expensive it is hard to hault sentiment change. SMI is a stop gap measure, an elasto plast on a dirty great compound fracture of economic reality.
guitarman001
Certain public sector workers earning under £21k to get an uplift of £250!? What's all that about? Personal allowance raised - extra £45 per month.

BearNecessities
By restricting the Home Deposit scheme to new homes, will it result in non new builds looking to sell at that end of the market to cut more agressively to compete? Just trying to put a positive HPC Spin on this
billybong
All the housing VIs on the Labour benches (most of them) will be saying to themselves well done in helping to support all their portfolios. Balls will put up a good show of saying how shocked he is at the unfairness of the budget.

Democorruptcy
If anyone asks me what I thought of the budget all I could say was that it proves the UK is a semi-criminal, money laundering kleptocracy.

Timm
It seems to me that whole policy is designed to stop the housebuilders having a few more really bad years. You're right, these are chainless new builds, it's not going to help anyone else on the proverbial ladder. This is a good point. If it was for second hand homes, it could result in four or five sales in each chain. This isn't propping up the market or helping FTBs - it's just a taxpayer's bung to landowners. billybong
"Fair fuel stabiliser" Sounds like one of those two wheeler bikes with another two wheels to stop the kids falling off. Wow 1 penny off petrol duty. Tories going crazy with excitement. Osborne's voice is almost going hysterical now. Dr Strangelove without the wheelchair. athom
OBR expects inflation to remain between 4 and 5% this year, then drop to 2.5 next year and then to 2 % the year after based on a tea leaf reading he had at mystic mervs emporium of economic wonders

Jack's Creation
What do mean extended? I didn't know it was going to end? It still only lasts for two years from when it starts, right?

Redcellar
Growth forecast for 2011 reduced to 1.7% from 2.1%. Thats the huge one. Everything else is just a distraction. Aren't we the only major economy to revise our forecast downward. I understand all others have gone up! Very very grim for the UK.

Dorkins
Osborne and Miliband, a pair of chinless wonders. You can tell from the tone of their voice neither of them really cares about what they're saying, it's all just clever catchphrases thought up by their underlings. Whatever happens to the economy they will go back to their comfortable homes in Hampstead and Oxfordshire where the fridge is always full, the bills are always paid, the next foreign holiday booked and paid for. What a disgusting spectacle.
billybong
It would be interesting what LibDems would have said about the budget if they'd been in opposition. Apart from slapping him on the back for helping with their portfolios that is.
