Why I Am Never Going To Own A Home Again

Recommended Posts

Why is only owning 2.5 suitcases worth of stuff cool?

Surely the worth of a person is not related to the number of suitcases of stuff they own, whether a large or small number?

We probably all have a natural equilibrium number of suitcases that keep us content. Why is less more?

Because here's someone who has just said no to Argos and all their cheap sh1t.

That's cool.

Renting space in a storage facility to warehouse fondue sets, running machines and Homebase garden furniture is just sad.

Buy less and own less stuff. I've been living on the 2 suitcase rule for yonks, I'm at 2.5 suitcases right now though due to some specialist equipment being added to it.

That's utter rubbish, ken. You sky dive and ride motorbikes. The kit for those alone would take up more space.

Sky dives, rides motorbikes...and 2.5 suitcases. The stuff of heros. More power to Ken's elbow is what I say.

If you are paying more than 20% of your salary on rent or a mortgage, you are definitely a slave. Renting is cheaper in the US than Britain and minimum wage is also higher, so it really makes a lot of sense to rent in the States.

Twist it all you like, renting IS dead money.

But then so is mortgage interest, and the interest lost on savings etc.

Basically unless you've somehow manged to acquire huge savings (or a STR with min mortgage payments) and let the interest pay your rent, you're stuffed either way.
