Lower Auction Reserves/guides

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone else has been getting e mails from auction houses saying that they have lowered guide prices and/or reserves. I am on the mailing list for several auction houses and this seems to be an increasing trend maybe aimed at boosting interest in a falling market. It will be interesting to see if achieved prices are in line with the 'lower reserves'.

Auction houses do re-jig the 'guide' price if there has been a lack of interest in a particular property. There may be some additional pressure to sell in these interesting economic times thus we may well be seeing a few more guides be reduced than normal. Obviously it's not in the auction house's interest to see lots not selling.

On a personal note, I am bemused to still see such over inflated prices for residential property in the UK. The meaningful crash will come, it has to, but boy are the forces dictating how the UK property market is; must be working overtime to keep all the plates spinning and not crashing to the floor!
