10K More Asking Price Than Google Streetview

Recommended Posts

Have to post this one.

This house just came on for asking price of £259,950 this morning.

If you go to Google streetview there is what appears to be a private sign outside for £249,995 asking price.

Google only did streetview in the area in the past 2 or 3 years IIRC.

A house over the road to us has gone on for 520k. Consistent with other prices along the road accept this one has been converted from a three bed semi into a TWO bed semi by way of a huge bathroom. The other houses along this stretch are all three bed etc so I couldnt believe when there four different sets of viewers pitching up to view this at the weekend.

This house was purchased five years ago for 340k.

Why do people turn into idiots when its comes to pricing and valuing property?

I have always thought that sticking the asking price on the board outside a house is a good idea.

I am not sure why people don't do it more - it is hardly private as it will be available online together with the actual sold prices of other neighbouring houses. It certainly would have saved me a lot of time looking up details of houses that were far too overpriced to even look at.

I suppose the EAs don't like it as it stops them from trying to sell other houses to people who enquire about one.
