Counting The True Cost Of Buying A Home In Our ‘Posh’ Spa Towns

Recommended Posts

"Epsom most expensive spa town".

I've never thought of it as a 'spa town'. More a part of London sprawl...anyway I'm not surprised....wiki

I didn't think of Epsom as a spa town either. It also goes to disprove this article as Epsom is actually considerably cheaper (and not as nice) as surrounding towns such as Esher, Weybridge and Cobham. I notice that when the price comparisons are made, there is no mention of 'Epsom is xx% more expensive than the rest of Surrey'

Also, it is a bit of a generalisation to say that Tunbridge Wells is '36% more expensive than the rest of Kent'. Last time I went there, Sevenoaks was much more expensive than Tunbridge Wells.

The 'niceness' of a town does have an effect on price (e.g. Guildford is more expensive than Woking, despite being more of a pain to get into town) but location will always be the biggest factor. I'd love to live in an attractive place like Bath, but it would be a bit of a commute to London every morning!
