Britain's Rich List

Recommended Posts

Just saw a Foolish article about the latest rich list: http://www.fool.co.uk/news/investing/2011/03/10/buddy-can-you-spare-a-billion.aspx

No Brits in the very top slots. But when they do appear, the top two brit entries are both there by virtue of pwoperty empires.

What does that say about us?

I expect he's paying taxes on his earnings. It's his missus who isn't UK resident, and however much she has she won't feature on the UK list.

More to the point, you can be sure astronomical rents feature high in his business costs.

This list is more interesting than the Times one, which is just littered with rich Indians/ Russians and others who have just bought a bolthole in Kensington. The downside of that is that an odious aristocrat benefitting from his ancestors actions hundreds of years ago is sitting pretty at the top.

He's actually quite a nice guy who I have met on a few occasions but I do agree with your sentiment. LVT will sort it out but when?
