R K
http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1410108_squatters_occupy_flat_above_rbs_bank_in_didsbury_in_protest_over_1bn_bonuses A group of squatters have staged a protest against staff bonuses at the Royal Bank of Scotland - by occupying a flat above a branch of the bank in West Didsbury. The campaigners moved into a property on the first floor of the building in Lapwing Lane and unfurled banners protesting at the bonuses paid out by the bank, which has a branch on the ground floor. The flat is owned by a private landlord and not the RBS, meaning the bank is powerless to prevent the protest. The squatters unfurled their protest banners over the weekend and bank workers and customers arrived on Monday morning to find three banners over the bank including one which proclaims: "We bailed RBS out and still £1.2 billion bonuses!" Another banner reads: "The squatters are revolting!" RBS, which is 84 per cent owned by the taxpayer, announced last month that it was paying £950m in bonuses to its investment bankers. The MEN understands the squatters moved in a few weeks ago and the landlord who owns the flat is taking steps to try to remove them. A spokesman for the RBS said: "The premises housing the RBS branch in West Didsbury is a leasehold property and neither the building or flat above the branch are owned by the bank. This current dispute is a matter for the landlords and individuals concerned. "We can confirm there is no direct access from the flat to the branch, so this dispute does not impact the operation of the branch." Whatever next - Egyptian style 'democracy'? Dave says we must get behind our banksters and move on.
MartinKeown
So a load of bemused bank clerks in West Didsbury, wherever that is, look on quizically as a load of crusties hang out of windows above their branch and jeer the various elderly and disadvantaged folks who still feel the need to physically visit a bank to deposit birthday present cheques and the like... Are we sure this isn't a sitcom? Do they mean Dibley?

Well the bankers and the state can listen at this point, or later when the bricks fly, or later still when some obviously mad far left/right fringe politico loony gets in on a landslide. The banks won't get to keep their loot, the systems they want can never happen. The only question are how many people get hurt before the banksters pack the dog and pony show up and whether the banksters go to prison or the cemetary.

It's like watching the collapse of the Roman empire. Society will implode as these parasites suck more and more wealth out of the economy. There has to come a point where the people become so disenfranchised and society so disfunctional that the system collapses. For the time being, it's bread and circuses. The sheeple are content just as long as they have the latest mobile phone and 200 channels of zhite to watch on TV It can't last

dom
It can't last Unfortunately, I think it can. The people I have to deal with daily seem to have the social mentality of sixth formers. It's all about being in the clique and bitching. This kind of narrowed awareness is getting worse IMO.

The people will get a lot poorer that they are right now before they wake up It's like that Thomas Jefferson quotation One day, the people will wake up homeless in the homeland their forefathers conquered And they'll wonder how the hell they got into such a mess. 200p
"The squatters are revolting!" I suppose, like typical squatters they have dirty clothes and haven't bathed. Perhaps it is a warning to prevent eviction?
