What To Do With 40k Deposit As Investment

Recommended Posts

Hi

What can I do with 40k so that I can invest it properly before buying a house?

What deposit accounts offer the best returns?

cheers

Why not go for a 1 year bond? - I've done this with the West Brom and Portman Building Societies over the last couple of years. OK - it's not sexy but if you need a regular fix you can get the monthly interest paid into a current account.

buy a 10k gold bar investment package and a ground safe. 10k in a 1yr savings account.

slap 10k into prem bonds and use £9,625 to flutter about in stocks.

the other £375 use to buy a fridge full of red stripe and a radio ga ga single.

I'm so glad that the advice given here has not been that of double your money on spread bettin, oil vs. gold, time share, derivatives, split caps etc.

Anyway : there is a tread pinned in the investment in general area dealing with the best rates. Good luck.

It rather depends on when you're planning to buy, how much notice you'll then be able to give to get your hands on the money, whether or not you're a higher-rate taxpayer, and how much risk you're comfortable with taking.

The current odds about "my lads" beating Aston Villa in the Premiership are 1/4 so a wager of £40,000 will return £50,000.

Nice return for an afternoon's work.

Have a good weekend
