On a slightly more serious note, I noticed that one of the local dry cleaners has started advertising that it has branched out into ... buying gold; that's the truth; not joking this time.

If fiat wasn't on the verge of collapse that would be the shoe shine moment.

I walked past a dodgy looking pawn brokers/2nd hand shop yesterday and it had a sign outside saying 'We will loan £19 per gram of Gold (on 22ct)'. To me it looks like PMs are becoming a street currency again! And as for it holding value - my 1oz silver maple would buy a damn good familiy meal now, just as it would during the Roman Empire.
