It's £250k and above IIRC, so you would need to price it at £249,999 for 1%.

That has got to be the maddest tax I have ever heard of. Did it not occur to them to put it use some sort of progressive sliding scale so that if the extra cost would only kick over on the amount paid above 250K (would probably have to go up a few %ages but ...) I mean, a condemned ex-council dump in london would cost more than that if it were a house.
