Right this time Mumsnet has crossed the line.

So they’ve had a few kids and the tiddies are somewhere south of the naval and the lady garden looks more like a land fill site, but worse still are those dastardly Men’s mag’s that keep reminding the lucky few what they once looked like and the vast majority what they could only have hoped to look like.

But, oh no! It’s for the kids donchaknow, because they don’t want their little girls to grow up with body issues. FFS if there has ever been a more blatant case of projection I cannot remember. What’s there next campaign going to be? To put attractive women under house arrest or make them wear burkas.

Face facts, there are prettier women, with bigger norks and cellulite free arses and men want to look at them.

The covers are not graphic (no nipple or muff) and differ little from Elle, Vogue and the like. The difference is in the suggestion or the wording and if a six year old girl can get that then I’m Santa.

A few examples,

Mumsnet calls for retailers to keep 'lads' mags' out of children's sight There is widespread discomfort about the way retailers display magazines and newspapers that carry adult sexual images on their front covers. Nine out of ten respondents to a Mumsnet survey said that they do not want their children to see these images. 82% had seen sexually explicit covers displayed where children could see them, often on the lower shelves of newsprint displays.

Only 82% of the turkeys vote to ban Christmas, the rest obviously don't have boby issue issues.

These marginal, but loud voices are a concern.

Actually I think you're right. In reality it has nothing to do with protecting kids, that's just a smokescreen. It's really about women not wanting prettier females on show. I'm a little older and wiser than my younger days, and I've learnt something about how women think

This is precisely the point. I fail to see what evidence they could possibly have to demonstrate how such things affect kids. It's everything to do with women's insecurities.

Just about everything women do is because of their insecurities.

Why not move the sweets up to the top shelf, I'm sure they do more damage to kids...

A lot of issues come down to "Please wont someone think of the children"..which is balls..its used to mask their own insecurities

hence my sig....

Don't worry GBdamo, it ain't going to happen any time soon, now if we were offending a religion where they don't like seeing exposed flesh, hang on a moment............................

Which, herpes or children? Well as they both require the same thing the chances are equally low. :(

I'm quite happy for my son to have some exposure as I want to make sure he is aware of heterosexual normalcy in society, and I fear he will be bombarded by PC homosexual crap at school.

I want him to join Beaver Patrol, not Bum Patrol.

And for the record I believe that there is a proportion of gayness which is nurture mediated and not nature mediated which drives this opinion. Time will tell if I'm mad or not.

If that's the case, might I suggest the bushes around truck stops. Always a good place to find a discarded sweat mag. Mind out for dead prossies though.

They should be more worried about the crap excuse for music videos that are broadcast all day long on freeview, than a magazine that they might catch a wee glimpse of.

More of a rant at my G/F than mumsnet.

Expand, you're GF appears in raunchy pop videos or sits there watching them all day. For your sake I hope it's not the latter. ;)

Lets face it, most kids have exposure to all the porn that they can make themselves sore with on the internet, they dont need to cough up a couple of quid to look at some scantly clad bimbo with a boob job leaning on a car.

All that the feminist fruitcakes have done is made it easier to buy porn mags. Before when someone pickup up a sealed mag from the top shelf you knew exactly what they were buying, now people can get top shelf mags and hope that people think they are only buying hmv or nuts

Happy to spend the evenings, weekends with it on the tele in the background. It's rather disturbing hearing her son singing along to Lady Gaga whilst watching her huffin' with her muffin.

Likewise, hasn't Julio Doubleglazingass's son just released a song called "Tonight I'm F*****g You"?

At least AC/DC are subtle with such classics like "Sink The Pink" and "Fire Your Guns".

Mind you, I probably sang along to Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

Have I become my old man?

Have I become my old man?

It is inevitable.

Looking at my dad and my wife's mum we have jokingly suggested a mutual suicide pact when it reaches critical levels..... I reckon about 5 more years should do it.

Maybe they should concentrate on real threats to the kids mental wellbeing no pandering to their own petty neurocies.

Here'e my favourite exampmle form Eminem and Rhiana

Just gonna stand there

And watch me burn

But that's alright

Because I like

The way it hurts

Just gonna stand there

And hear me cry

But that's alright

Because I love

The way you lie

I love the way you lie

I love the way you lie

I can't tell you what it really is

I can only tell you what it feels like

And right now there's a steel knife

In my windpipe

I can't breathe

But I still fight

While I can fight

As long as the wrong feels right

It's like I'm in flight

High of a love

Drunk from the hate

It's like I'm huffing paint

And I love it the more that I suffer

I sufficate

And right before im about to drown

She resuscitates me

She ******ing hates me

And I love it

Wait

Where you going

I'm leaving you

No you ain't

Come back

We're running right back

Here we go again

It's so insane

Cause when it's going good

It's going great

I'm Superman

With the wind in his bag

She's Lois Lane

But when it's bad

It's awful

I feel so ashamed

I snap

Who's that dude

I don't even know his name

I laid hands on her

I'll never stoop so low again

I guess I don't know my own strength

Just gonna stand there

And watch me burn

But that's alright

Because I like

The way it hurts

Just gonna stand there

And hear me cry

But that's alright

Because I love

The way you lie

I love the way you lie

I love the way you lie

You ever love somebody so much

You can barely breathe

When you're with them

You meet

And neither one of you

Even know what hit 'em

Got that warm fuzzy feeling

Yeah them chills

Used to get 'em

Now you're getting ******ing sick

Of looking at 'em

You swore you've never hit 'em

Never do nothing to hurt 'em

Now you're in each other's face

Spewing venom

And these words

When you spit 'em

You push

Pull each other's hair

Scratch, claw, bit 'em

Throw 'em down

Am I not down with the youth or is this basically saying 'I don't care that he beats me shitless cos I love him, oh but he's sorry about it'.

This is an interesting question - and more interesting answers. Seems like the vast majority of kids don't ask anything about these pics. And the ones that do are all below 10 years old and therefore are probably not likely to be asking about any sexual aspect. But then again these caring mumsnetters only seem to be bothered by their own thoughts and not their kids.

What? You think that no child under 10 has any perception that an image may be in any way sexual? Must have been a LONG time since you were a kid.

You are all totally wrong about this issue. Women are not objecting to these mags because they are jealous. If they were jealous then why wouldn't they seek to have the stunning girls in the fashion mags covered up? I'll tell you why. It's because the girls in the fashion mags are presented as unobtainable and self-respecting. It doesnt matter if a fashion model is mostly naked, she still looks haughty. Women in the lads' mags are presented as subserviant an easy, as disposable as a *****ed-on tissue. Most people want their little girls to grow to be the former, confident self-respecting women.

Anyway, since porn is so ubitquious and readily available nowadays, is there any reason for these mags to be shoved in peoples' eyelines?

You never see a fit bird complain about women being sex objects. They're too busy being sex objects.

Time to get my mate Shaun to attempt a DOS attack on their site.

He makes the Warlock from Die Hard 4.0 look like a luddite.

Aye, precisely. Girls in high-fashion mags are not obtainable and do not represent anything the average birds bloke is likely to bump into a work or down the boozer so women don't feel the need to compete. "Ordinary" looking girls of the type whic appear in FHM and Nuts represent the actual real-world threat though.

+1

The other lot on here just don't get it. Mind you most of them have never had a relationship with an actual woman.
