CrashConnoisseur
'Hardly des res: Inside the squalid sheds rented to desperate immigrant families by unscrupulous landlords': http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1358874/Shedding-rise-Landlords-illegally-renting-outhouses-makeshift-beds-immigrants.html The conditions are barely fit for human habitation.A kettle sits upon a microwave which sits on a fridge, beside a canister providing gas to the most basic of worktop ovens. Yet this squalid scene acts as a kitchen to a desperate family forced to rent an outbuilding from a landlord at extortionate prices in Slough, Berkshire. The town is plagued with the 'sheds with beds' phenomenon that sees them taking makeshift accommodation that becomes more permanent than they - or the local council - would like. rented
Quality journalism from the Fail, I shall assume they meant the sheds were 12ft by 15ft not 12ft by 15 yards. Edited February 20, 2011 by rented
Self Employed Youth
If it wasn't for housing benefit, millions in Britain would not even be able to afford to live in a shed like this.
OnlyMe
If it wasn't for housing benefit, millions in Britain would not even be able to afford to live in a shed like this. If it wasn't for sheds like this and other HMO arrangement it maybe that migrant labour would not be able to undercut milions of britons. Aye, If they could claim housing benefit and JSA they would also turn their noses up at minimum wage factory work.
aa3
I wonder how many people live in the UK now. We are told the population is basically constant.. yet everywhere things seem to be getting more crowded, more people crowding into the same space. I remember a poster here said Tescos internally estimated the population living in the UK at 83 million.
