Development Opportunities Which Didn't Develop

Recommended Posts

I must admit these are my favourites - I can't wait till they've all run out of planning permission and overbuilding ceases.

and those are just this week's that I've noticed - I think the party is over.

Tear in my eye thinking of the good old days when every garden, derelict house or swamp was a development just waiting for a savvy investor

In the boom times some folk were making a couple of hundred quid a day in the value of their house before they got up out of bed. Those were the times when in the words of Gordon Greco, money never slept.

No productivity was being created but most people were getting richer. On paper anyway. Talk about a fools paradise.

I love the owner's perspective.

I could re-write it as" I thought I could develop this and make a mint but now house prices are going down I think I'd better offload it while it still has a value."

I like the way the 'in need of complete refurbishment' is in the 'of interest' section rather than the 'things you need know'. Lol.

I keep seeing houses of the sort I would be interested in at prices around the level I would be willing to pay only to find that they are trying to make up their imagined "loss" from peak by trying to sell the front/side garden as a site seperatly.

Most annoying as a key requirement for me is some surrounding space which people still try to flog off making the house no longer suitable and far too expensive for what it will be with a couple of new builds in the former garden :(

I cannot see an issue with the first place.

True, I don't know the area, but £100, k in my area would buy one next to nothing.

The thing that really made me lol though was the detail.-
