The Hpc Forum Should Become Orientated Toward Becoming A Movement?

Recommended Posts

Discuss.

Any Ideas/opinions?

Neutral Example:

I.E. A PETITIONS heading on the Main Page.

So that FTB'ers Could easily list and find petitons, and sign them. Example:

[For FTB'ers.] A tax should be levied on BTL.

Well we could start by adding our comments to THE HOUSING MINISTER, Grant Shapps' website.http://www.shapps.com/2011/01/welcome-to-the-new-shapps-com/#comment-152

There is a HPC thread here http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=158851&st=0

and here http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=159018&st=0

There are currently more HPC members reading the main forum than have commented on the website.

Some good comments so far.

Theres too many vested interests in one way or another who frequent this site (to get their ideas & news) and you arent tapping into the right people or target audience imo.

Im aware of that, and it was of interest to me, how many who frequent this site are FTB'ers and how many are 'others'

Maybe I should have just requested a PETITIONS Thread, to be sticked to the main board? I still feel that would be a good idea.

It is quite well known that the young are more prone to socialist ideals. Once in full adulthood and fending for themselves, their views often move to the right.

There is a similar argument to be had here with us HPCers. We will get our house price crash with a little patience. It should hopefully become a Tsunami, leading to thoroughly depressed prices and people falling out of love with owning property for a while.

Not only will this be the best time for us HPCers to buy our own houses, but many of us might find we can pick up a couple of rental properties on the side dirt cheap too, if we are so inclined (I would point out that it is landlords per se who are at fault currently, but the banks that created a house price boom with highly leveraged BTL deals and then the government that stepped in to stop them losing out on their mistake).

Don't tell me that given the opportunity to earn a just (not accessed through ridiculous leverage that distorts the housing market) rental income you would wish to be denied it via legislation.

Personally I can think of nothing better than sitting on a beach somewhere, while a couple of flats, that I picked up for 30k a piece from some corrupt collapsing bank, are paying my way (via the very reasonable rents, compared to 2011 rents, that I charge my tenants).

Just be patient until the boot is on the other foot, then it's gravy the whole way. :D

I think that http://www.pricedout.org.uk/ are already a very good advocacy group. I don't think that it makes sense to dilute their effectiveness by setting up a competing group.

Petitions: ah yes indeed, petitions.............

Over the past (many ) years, I watched news coverage of stalwart lads and lassies formally handing in half a rain forest of earnestly prepared and carefully completed petitions to the copper who cools his heels outside the door of Number 10.

My own conclusion is that they are formally received with thanks: and thereafter go straight into the furnace.

When was the last time political leaders actually listened to the moral majority and took subsequent action?

Magna Carta?

Anyone who really and sincerely believes our political leaders give a flying stuff about Vox Populi needs to see a good analyst.

Urgently.

:o

Agreed. They are the political wing. We're more like terrorists.

What have we done that could be terrorist in nature? Anyone punched a BTLer? Burnt a bank? Broken the window of an estate agent? Stormed the BBC News room?

No.

We are nothing so noble. We're actually like a bunch of whining housewives moaning to each other about our terrible lot while doing the laundry.

I agree. I think we would benefit more if we lent, and continue to lend, PricedOut our support. Nevertheless, I admire your passion and proactive attitude Dan.

HPC discussion on Home Buyer's Strike on Facebook: http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=139957

I think it's imperative for everyone here with a Facebook and social media account to pin their HPC membership clearly on their lapel. I'm registered with very few groups on Facebook (because I'm not really in to that whole Facebook thing) but I'm a member of these 2 and I don't care how many of my home "owning" friends know it. If anyone asks me about my own home buying intentions ("aspirations") I tell them exactly how I see it ("I think house prices should fall by 30%") ... although I find I'm not asked as much nowadays as I was in 2005-2007. Funny that.

In addition, I think it's worth embedding/posting HPC related YouTube clips in Facebook. There's a huge VI industry using every avenue of media to convince young people and FTBs that NOW is the time to buy. I dare say that even their own parents are egging them on in signing their lives away, such is the delusion that still exists. If only a few of the 20-somethings in your Facebook profile, etc, get to see them and consider the points made within then it will have been worth it. Should they re-post this within their own account for friends to see then it could be HPC wildfire.

We don't need to convince VIs and the puppets of VIs that HPC is for the good of FTBs, the country and the housing market as a whole. We just need to educate those yet to enter the pyramid.

My personal favourites...

I've just listened to that 5Live call again, absolutely brilliant, it's how he giggles at the end "but the salesman told us to" Top class stuff, should be compulsory aired before each X-Factor/Eastenders etc.

What do you aim to achieve.

I'd be quite happy if Gordon Brown's bubble became the talk of the town.

I'd like him to be burnt at the stake for treason but they don't do that. ;)

Use the word bubble today.

By all means form petitions and write letters but there are other, more direct ways, in to influence the property market. Everyone should start making offers 30-40% below asking price. This is will upset estate agent and vendor confidence.
