Historic House Price Inflation Since 1952

Recommended Posts

Somebody else posted a link to Nationwide's calculator the other day, it's quite a useful little tool.

For some reason pages 2 and 4 were incomplete, still the excel file on their site is ok.

2 and 4 appear to be headers if you look carefully all the years are complete. I had to convert to pdf to be able to attach it. :)

ponzi would have beaten them all if it hadn't been for those pesky americans.

and he probably did beat them all in inflation* adjusted terms

* - especially using his favourite CPI measure.

I knew in 1976 when I bought my second property that a crash had happened, prices dropped in real terms taking inflation into account by 13%. A four bed detached chalet house only 3 years old with 60ft frontage, 40x60 foot rear garden, 30 foot kitchen breakfast room, 40x16 foot lounge, u shaped landing with bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom, finished with a large integral garage for £17.95k. Sad that I had to sell it due to a nutter as a neighbour.

It was 25 years later that I read and heard the pundits saying about the hidden HPC of 1976 which nobody seemed to notice.

Well I did and made capital from it. ;)
